I’m a simple gal when it comes to beauty care and over the years I have completely cleaned up my beauty rituals. Sad but true even our beauty care items can be dirty, often times made with harmful ingredients, full of unnecessary additives, inhumanely tested on animals and downright destructive to our whole wellbeing.
Last year I discovered a FREE app called Think Dirty which was the one tool that made me look at everything in my beauty ritual and create an action plan to replace the dirty products I was unknowingly using. You see, up until downloading the app, I thought my products were all clean, but later learned that just because I buy my products from health food stores and the labels say certain key phrases that I look for there were still underlying concerns within the ingredients. I was most shocked by my so called “natural” deodorant and lip balm.
I believe change should be made organically at our own individual pace so for me as I continue to take a closer look at everything I put in and on my body I am constantly making changes for the better. I plan to make this a lifelong practice in an effort to live healthfully while having the privilege to be in this body and I know many of you are looking to do the same. Which is why I feel compelled to share so much of my life and personal discoveries with you all. If I haven’t told you lately or if you’re new to this community, THANK YOU for inspiring me and being here!
As I learn and presumably grow wiser, I’m discovering how quality matters so much more. From the clothes I choose to wear to the makeup and beauty care products I adorn myself with. Like all areas of my life I am not one for settling when I know better exists. I’d rather do without some things, over settling but luckily with beauty care I no longer have to because there are in fact clean, simple, honest, artisan, high integrity companies out there making exceptional products that won’t lead to cancer, disease, compromised immunity, rashes or other awful side effects.
After all these products are meant to provide care. From oral care to under arm care you’ll find something for all of your bodily beauty needs within these loving and trusted brands that I personally use on a daily. I highly recommend you download the Think Dirty App and try it out on all of your beauty items to see which ones are worthy of your hard earned dollars and more importantly are in fact clean. If you try it, I’d love to hear from you!
Can anything be cleaned up in your beauty routine? Do you have a favorite clean product you’d like to share with me? Would love to hear and converse with you in the comments below.

***If you find the cost to be the reason why you don’t make a change just know there are always inexpensive d.i.y. recipes out there around the web and in books such as The Natural Beauty Solution in which I shared with you in this video.

PSS- Because many have asked, I’d also like to share the products I choose for Nova from clothes to body care.
Organic clothes from Winter Water Factory, PACT, Zara, Rags to Raches and American Apparel are the easiest ones for me to come by for the basics and specialty rompers at a fair price point. I almost always shop on sale!
Formerly writing for an Eco high end lifestyle magazine also gave me access to baby products I otherwise wouldn’t have known about and as a result, I’ve found some incredible body products for Nova that I use on myself from time to time. Here’s a list of my favorite brands that carry products from sunscreens, body oils, toothpaste to bubble bath: Shea Moisture, Live Clean, Goddess Garden Organics, Dr. Bronners, Badger, Jack N Jill, and Little Innocents.
