Ever walk down the vegan aisle at your grocery store, come across Tempeh and have no idea how to work with it? You’re not alone, many people tell me they don’t know what to do with tempeh. So I’m sharing my simple marinade recipe in hopes to inspire a new addition to your palate & plate.
Tempeh is so versatile, you can pretty much marinade it any way you’d like. This recipe was designed to be eaten any time of day. You can slice it like bacon as the maple and salty tamari with a smoked salt will have your buds in cruelty free bacon heaven.
Feeling festive? Cut the tempeh using cookie cutters to make fun shapes for the kids, slice it for sandwiches, or cube it for quick and easy dinner recipes such as my Indonesian inspired tempeh. No matter how you decided to cut it up, you’ll have fun getting creative with the unique texture and versatility of this lightly nutty tasting protein.
Simply whisk the following ingredients together. Cut your tempeh and marinate for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight.
For a quick touch of warmth I like to lightly pan the temeph to heat it up. I also love to bake it on an aluminum lined baking tray at 350 degrees for 8 minutes on each side if I’m making thin slices of tempeh bacon or using the tempeh for a sandwhich.
